Ronacher McKenzie Geoscience was amongst the 25000+ attendees at the annual Prospector and Developers Association of Canada in March 2018.
The conference was kicked off with Principal Geophysicist Jenna McKenzie participating in the Frank Arnott Award 2.0 workshop, an initiative by DMEC (Decennial Mineral Exploration Conferences) and senior representatives of industry and academia, to launch the Frank Arnott Award as a permanent yearly challenge open to young geoscientists.
The annual KEGS Geophysical Symposium was hosted with theme “Lessons Learned: Integration driven by Experience”. Senior Geophysicist Brenda Sharp co-chaired the Case Studies session, along with Jenna McKenzie, who as 2018 KEGS president, introduced the event and co-chaired the Processing, Inversion and Interpretation session. Principal Geologist Elisabeth Ronacher joined the Ronacher McKenzie geophysicists at the annual KEGS Breakfast at the Royal York to hear Dr. Peter C. Lightfoot present on nickel exploration.
Ronacher McKenzie held several meetings throughout the conference both with clients and Canada’s trade commissioners. It was great to see old clients and meet new clients who are interested in Ronacher McKenzie’s integrated services. The exploration mood and activity is certainly increasing in what no doubt will be a positive year for the exploration industry.
Several members from the Ronacher McKenzie team attended a meeting for the Women Geoscientists in Canada, a newly formed and expanding group advocating for gender balance for geoscientists. We are very excited about this initiative and there will be more information coming.
Ronacher McKenzie concluded the PDAC with participation in a machine learning workshop hosted by DMEC. The sold-out nature of this workshop with a waitlist is an indicator of our industry’s desire to explore machine learning with mineral exploration data, and we expect to see a lot more activity on this front in 2018.
