Conference2.jpgFarzaneh Farahani is a Project Geophysicist with Ronacher McKenzie Geoscience, with more than 10 years implementing and delivering research and exploration geophysical projects. She is a geophysicist with a passion for sustainable exploration to protect the environment, and brings extensive experience and knowledge to our team.

We’d like to share with you Farzaneh’s story.

"I took various courses throughout my undergraduate studies in the field of physics, and I discovered that I was fascinated with the merits of applied physics in solving industrial and environmental problems. As a result, I was encouraged to pursue applied geophysics and started my career at the Institute of Geophysics of University of Tehran, Iran, in 2004.

For 2 years I worked as a Research Assistant in different parts of the Geomagnetic department, gaining experience in: Geomagnetic Observatory, Paleo-magnetic Laboratory, Magnetometry, Geo-electric Exploration. This developed my practical skills and made me more specialized in data acquisition, data processing & analysis, and data modelling. I was encouraged to work on a Master’s degree in Geophysics with a focus on magnetometry.

During my master's degree, I was exposed to a full range of geophysical courses, supporting my work experiences at the Institute of Geophysics. My Master’s thesis addresses the recognition of parameters of a broken fault zone by performing a 2D and 3D inversion of the ground magnetic data. This was in an active seismic zone, also known as a geothermal potential because of its hot springs.

In addition to making contribution to several geophysical and mining exploration projects, I have successfully conducted phase I & II environmental site assessments, to recognize contamination plums. I assisted in the design of site remediation and clean-up, to address the contaminants from the soil and ground water.

PDAC.pngSome of my applied projects include surface and sub-surface analysis for fault systems, and mineral, hydrogeological and geothermal resources. I am registered as a Geoscientist in Training,  with the Association of Professional Geoscientists in Ontario, (APGO), and am a member of the Canadian Exploration Geophysical Society (KEGS). I've enjoyed working with students at the Institute of Geophysics, University of Tehran, teaching a Lab course and helping Master's students solve problems in electromagnetism and differential equations."

We’re pleased to have Farzaneh as a valuable member of our team. She not only contributes her extensive knowledge to our client projects, she also participates actively in the geoscience community, and has helped with organizing and implementing several National Geophysical Conferences in Iran.
